![]() When we checked in though, the tour was cancelled due to maintenance at the ruins site. ![]() We planned one excursion through the hotel, a trip to see Mayan ruins near Tulum. The service was also awesome and we never waited more than a few minutes for a drink or poolside snacks, even with the resort being pretty full during our stay. I can’t imagine being anywhere else! There were some resort activities outside around the pool (like an artisan that hand-painted sun hats each guest received at check-in) but it didn’t have that cheesy-resort-vibe that makes you feel like you’re at summer camp (I was relieved that it was fairly chill, laid-back vibe!). The Unico 2087 property had several pools, we tested out all the ones we had access too, and spent most of our time at the main pool because …. Having this private pool area was so nice at the end of each day since it was a bit more shady than the main pool areas, a good spot to wind down and cool down before dinner each night. We stayed in one of the swim-up pool rooms, with a small deck space that had hammocks, a large outdoor couch, and lounge chairs directly in a swimming pool that was accessible only from those guest rooms. The resort got two-thumbs-up from me on aesthetics – many of the common spaces and restaurants had a Serena and Lily-goes-to-Mexico vibe. Unico 2087 in Riviera Maya checked off everything on our list! After an hour-ish long ride from the airport, we checked in and were so excited to explore the property, pools and room. ![]() Our wishlist for this trip was an all-inclusive and adults-only resort with an easy, direct-flight from Boston (we flew into Cancun) and great food. We’re not typically big resort vacationers, but since we were making this a kids-free trip, we decided our focus was going to be on relaxing. My husband and I celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary this month and were lucky enough to get away for a few days to celebrate (thanks to my Mom for babysitting!). Ground floor rooms enjoy access to swim-up pools, while accommodation on higher floors have whirlpool tubs on balconies.I’m back from a week of bliss in Mexico, spent sitting by the pool, eating unlimited tacos and sipping spicy Paloma cocktails. You'll also get a custom bathrobe, slippers and a pillow menu. ![]() All rooms and suites have special features – such as outdoor hot tubs, 55-inch TVs, free high-speed Wi-Fi and Nespresso coffee machines. UNICO 20☈7° Hotel Riviera Maya feels very connected to its surroundings – the latitude and longitude of its location is right there in the hotel name and the curved shape of the resort reflects the coastline. It’s also in the ideal position to explore one of Mexico’s unforgettable cenotes – the Two Eyes Cenote and marvel at the underground river of Rio Secreto, both are around 15 miles away.
